Red face New business, new website!

Putting myself firmly in the firing line!

We have started a new company and taken over the Jobs Vitae recruitment website. The original owner stavros is very much involved, and I'm looking forward to a fresh challenge

So the question is, what does anyone else think? I trust you won't hold back

After any thoughts, comments on design, layout, userbility etc.

SEO wise, have dynamic URL issues that need addressing, duplicate title tags, h1 structure probs, amongst others, and site wise, have a few typo, font colour issues, and call to actions below the fold that need addressing.

But be good to get some feedback from some fresh eyes

All the best Stavros and sjr4x4!

I found the home page intimidatingly "busy".

However, I liked the fact I was presented immediately with a list of jobs. How about dividing up the jobs into (more user friendly) categories though?

Sorry didn't look hard enough - does the site provide a "search function" (by job type / county / salary level)? Most job boards do.

Cheers Linda, appreciate the feedback.

Categories and job search wise is something I'm not convinced with, but was waiting to see what other people thought. There is a job search, big button at the top of the home page marked as "find jobs", plus also on the home page, but badged as "lets find you a new job". There is also a job search tab on the top menu bar, second one in. Interesting you didn't spot these, I need big obvious call to actions that can be picked up in a quick scan of the page.

Hmm, Maybe there is too much going on above the fold.

My feeling is the job search is too complicated and needs to be simplified, but be good to get more feedback.

LOL - well if I'm anything to go by - I had to look three times before finding it, kept coming back to your words big button at the top of the home page clearly a different definition of top!

Keep it simple, badge it as "Job Search".

With a key button like that give it a distinct colour so it stands out.

Not necessarily but you always need to be careful with light text on a dark background - it's known that some people find it hard work to read. This may make it look like there's too much going on. The other pages have dark texts on a white or light background. See how the home page looks like that too.

In fact just taken another look at some of the other pages. I'd suggest a review of the font and background colours. Some of the texts are harder to read than others...

Look forward to seeing how it all progresses!

Great feedback, appreciated

Yep agree, definitely need to work through the fonts, a lot of the text is pretty hard to read!

Certainly have lots to be getting on with

I like the site overall. Clean design. 3 big calls to action, and a top row of navigation. Font is easy to read for me.

Only constructive remark I would make is, I ended up having to Google: What is a "CV"?

Figured it out: Curriculum Vitae

I would guess the CV term isn't familiar to most persons in the USA, but since its a UK website = good to go.

Interesting feedback Malok, especially as we have the .com in case we want to take it further. Must admit assumed the term "CV" was international, obviously not!! Looks like I have a lot to learn about job sites!

But for now, yup we are just aiming for the UK market.
