Default Clinical Hypnosis - Hypnotherapy Webiste Review

I was recently with an overseas host but found that Google were... not penalising, but for sure not happy my host were overseas and I'm in UK, so i recently moved to a UK based hosting site. Previously i'm hitting P1 google for my search terms. The next few crawls might change this (fingers crossed it wont) so far so good. Any help or advice welcome. I have two url's pointing to the site

I'll leave to you tomsk, whichever you feel most compelled to comment on. I will try take all comments on the chin, bearing in mind I am still settling into the new system I have joined.

Hi Paul

Sorry, I don't like either site and think each is likely to be losing you business, not attracting it.

I've only done a whistle-stop tour (on the text version of your site) but:-

* There's a notice up saying "to view the full version of the site please ... install .. and see Javascript enabled. As a prospective customer, I'm not going to give myself any extra work - if I don't like the look of your site, I'll instantly go elsewhere.

* At the bottom of your sites, it says "build your own free web site with moonfruit". It doesn't convey the professional image you want for your business if your web site is blatantly amateur.

* There are "&apos" intrusions throughout the sites.

* You say you're a member of CRSST and work to the ethical guidelines endorsed by GHR. As a prospective customer, I don't even know what these initials signify, let alone why I should be impressed by your membership of CRSST, etc.

* The design and layout of the (text version of the) sites are extremely unattractive and offputting. The first thing that hit me was the price tag for each session. Then you tell me what I might get for my money.

As a customer, I want you to tell me what you can do to help me solve whatever problems I've got, only then do I want you to remove potential barriers (eg I need to know about your expertise, others' positive experiences of your services, where you are ... and how much the help I want will cost me).

* The text which would sell your services (eg how you can help, the evidence of your professional standing, etc) tends to be in font so small it's uncomfortable to read. The text that is offputting or neutral is presented in large font and repeated on every page of the site!

* I suspect the site as it stands has not had any serious SEO work done on it (and it may not be easy to do such work because of the design).

Sorry, I wouldn't waste any time on improving these sites, I'd call in the help of a professional web site designer with SEO skills. Suggest you try for a good basic site and negotiate to stagger the payments over a series of months, then the extra clients you get from the new site will help you pay for it.

Good luck! Linda

Linda hi,
Thanks for taking the time to have a l@@k at the Text version of my site, that's very good of you and I appreciate that you could l@@k at my site.

I really like my site, over 90% of clients come to me from local advertising in papers and magazines, some phone directly others have a look online then email or phone.

As said in the original post I have been hitting P1 google for certain search terms specific to my business -

Being a certified registered professional in the Therapy Industry, Hypnotherapy, Counselling, Psychology, the hard sell is not ethical and would lead to termination of membership with almost all reputable associations.

The site itself does not actually sell anything as such but is quite an important step. I take lots of testimonials and feedback from every single client and all comments regarding the site are very positive, so I find your feedback very interesting - thanks again.

Paul Green

Master Green Seeing that you have a P1 ranking, I thought I would have a look at the design of the site instead. It's clean, for me anyway, there aren't too many colors bouncing off at me from all angles which I like, navigation is easy as well, which gives you a usability boost. There are one or two things I noticed, but they aren't really train smashes .

I looked at the first link, (you said both point to the same, so I took the first one). The blue writing on the blue header needs to be brought out a bit? (using a darker or lighter shade of blue maybe) as well as maybe use a rounder font for your navigation? The character you have on your site, holding the sign, has one small problem. (teeny really) but the writing on the sign seems to go over his hand and not under it.

Other than that, I like it.

That's an Impressive eye for detail Dreamraven In another thread we are talking about people stealing images etc.. Well, I purchased a license for the image and kind of didn't want people just stealing the image so I kind of overlapped the image hoping it might put off any potential 'copycats' from copying the image scrubbing the writing and making a new sign-
I may change it..

Thank you for you for taking the time to have a l@@K at my site -

to be completely honest uhhh, there are ways and means for any sort of advanced Photoshop user to take that image and remove the text from his hand. It's an easy technique as well. It was a great idea though, to try help minimize people taking images that don't belong to 'em.

You're welcome

Hiya Paul

It's a brave man that steps forward into the lions den of a website review, so 10/10

Have to be honest though, I do tend to agree with Linda.

The site looks alright, but it is what it is, a freebie wsiwyg flash site, so it will always have it's limitations.

Issues I found, your site was dog slow to load. Just to show it wasn't my browser, see below: output from Website Speed Test - iWEBTOOL.com

1 paulgreenhealthcare.co.uk 26.06 KB 6.95 seconds 0.27 seconds
2 paulgreenhealthcare.co.uk/#/about-us/4554152336 26.06 KB 13.63 seconds 0.52 seconds
3 paulgreenhealthcare.co.uk/#/services/4554152338 26.06 KB 29.2 seconds 1.12 seconds

SEO, keyword tag is a bit overstuffed, and in this day and age serves little purpose.

Page Titles could do with some love, and an easy fix, make the best use of them for whatever search terms you are going after, factoring in relevancy of page content.

Currently they all say <page name> - Clinical Hypnosis - Hypnotherapy - Derbyshire

Somethink like wordpress would give you a very similar look and more professional feel for a pretty low cost. But if the sites working as intended and you are happy with the traffic and conversion rate (a phone call is a conversion), then leave as is.

Do you have Google Analytics installed? If so, have you tracked your traffic, to see what entry points you're visitors arrive, which keywords etc. Maybe set up some goals, like joining a mailing list or downloading Pauls guide to stopping smoking to give people a taster and reason to make that call. This should give you a good idea of how your site is really performing.

Personally not a fan of mobile only phone numbers, can you not have a landline and answer phone/VA?

Agree with Dreamraven, Blue on blue doesn't work.

Phew, hope that helps!

Steve,
Thank you for taking the time to have a L@@K at my site - Very good of you and much appreciated.

Hmm, I didn't figure it to be that slow, perhaps an oversight on my behalf as it loads great here on mine - something to do with cookies? probably.

I was previous with webs.com (another free site), but they are US based, I had been with them since 2004/05 I think when they began.
I had got used to the whole system and had over time built up a fairly smooth site.
I have moved to moonfruit mainly with a view of it being UK based (at least I hope so), google were a bit funny with me about certain things that my business is UK but the host was US.

It will come good in time, things like the page titles etc are obvious your right just need to be patient with learning my way round the moonfruit system. Eventually I might upgrade to a package that takes away the moonfruit logo etc, to anyone computer related my site might seem a bit bizarre.

Due to the nature of my work being being a personal service my only intention with the site was to offer people a sneak peak if they were curious enough to L@@K onto my site then maybe they might then take the next step too, It is very important to see that in fact I am human, and that people can relate to me and the services that I provide - It works.

I'm building a nice clean site but nothing too rigid, It's got to have a human quality and not polarised, just somewhere that's acceptable is my aim.

I am still tweaking and not in a panic.

Business is V Good, especially after Embarrassing 'Fat' Bodies on C4, the series followed a fellow Hypnoband Weight Loss System Practitioner over a number of episodes. I am the licensed practitioner for my area. After that many leads come from the Hypnoband.com website to my site etc. And similar with other areas of my work, like smoking etc. Referrals, word of mouth and local advertising all pull in the main portion to my work.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments with me. I will take everyones comments on board, this may lead to some tweeking.

Really enjoying the site by the way.

*EDIT* also forgot to mention that all landlines etc are within the about us pages of the site -
