Well I've just had a navigate around and I am impressed, very informative, well written with lots of data.
I have to say, at some time in the future I will have to replace my roof, I have an extension which was done some time ago before I moved in and the tiles are completely different and are starting to show signs of wear.

Anyway back to the question. An excellent site in my opinion. Congratulations.

Thanks for spending the time to look Garlex. much appreciated.

I think I wanted it to be informative about eco friendly stuff as well as presenting what we do, but I worry sometime that our actual services get lost amongst the information. However by the looks of things it made you think about your own roof!

Thanks again,

Jacob

I'm not sure how your services could get lost? The whole site screams solar panel installations. As you'd expect from a professional. Unless I missed some other services unrelated to that?

It's good to have the 'see how much you can save' section clearly visible. My gripe is that you always have to be living in a property for 20+ years for it to be cost effective - though it has nothing to do with the website.

So back to the website, one or two pages look a bit wordy and could be broken up but that is just being picky .

Final scores, 9 out of 10

Thanks again for your time to look. you know this is a really good site.

I suppose it is good information and there are places where it is text heavy i just think calls to action and the product itself should be absolutley blatntly clear. from what you say it is - so to a certain extent you have put my mind at rest.

I shall have a word with David cameron re the feed-in tariff

Come on, this is a website review, we're supposed to pick it to pieces and criticise!

Dohh, I love it

Clear and concise, obvious what you do, great clear content, overall a nice looking site.

Now you will know your own conversion numbers, so depending how happy you are with your own keyword ranking etc, will depend on any tweaks etc, but I personally would amend your page title descriptions, as most are the same.

Header image (Jacob Eco Energy) is quite blurry in a Chrome Browser, with makes the renewable energy tag line quite hard to read. Maybe a better quality image?

Looks like you have canonical URL issues, you are displaying both jacobecoenergy.co.uk and www.jacobecoenergy.co.uk

An easy explanation of this is here - canonical URL issues

A cosmetic and marketing tip - you might want add a favicon. Makes your pages stand out.

Thanks Steve. constructive criticism is always welcome.

I think you are right about the favicons. It would break the page up a bit.

I have to say i didn't test it on chrome. must do!

and canonical urls. this is new to me. I must give this a bit of time to sit and read. So all links should be of the same structure: i.e. Solar Panels Installation, Solar Power Information | Jacob Eco or Solar Panels Installation, Solar Power Information | Jacob Eco. Is that right? would this affect external links as well do you think?

cheers,

Jacob

Hi Jacob, unfortunately the forum software is trying to be too helpful by auto retrieving your page titles!

But in a nutshell, canonical issues is where the likes of google see www.widgets.com and widgets.com as duplicate content.

In theory, http://wwww.widgets.com and http://widgets.com can be different websites and have different content, as unlikely as it sounds. So when they are the same website, search engines can view this as a duplicate website.

To fix it, you just redirect one URL to the other with a 301 redirect.

So if I type in widgets.com it automatically takes me to www.widgets.com.

Using a 301 redirect, (in theory) saves any link juice that may be attributed to the URL you are redirecting.

If you are unfamilar with this, just simply ask your web designer if he can edit your .htaccess file and do a 301 redirect for your URL.

If you want to see how not to do it, look at this forum which has the same problem and I'm blowed if I can fix it

(any vbulletin gurus who can fix my .htaccess file greatfully welcomed..)

well, i think i need to have a word with my designer. and check that out.

I shall keep my ear to the ground around vbulletins. If its really heavy duty developers advice you need sitepoint.com can be really useful.

regards,

Jacob
