Sounds like they just went away with an idea of what they believed was what you wanted, created it, then presented it to you. A silly way to carry on. Always make sure you can view the progress of a website in its design phase and then in its full working state before any sign-offs.
Yes , we don't see the website during the progress , we only see the first phase of design and asked them to make some change , they said ok , but they revise nothing. Some days later , they told us website is ok ,but ...

I realise the following ideas may not work in China but thought it might be helpful to explain how I'd go about getting my money back in a similar situation.

In the UK, some companies belong to trade associations which offer an impartial complaints resolution service on behalf of their members. You can complain to the trade association. If your complaint is upheld, a strong trade association may get the service not delivered to you done to acceptable standards for no charge by another of its member companies. Alternatively, it may arrange for you to receive financial compensation.

Sometimes just threatening you will complain to the trade association is enough to make your supplier behave better!

The other resource we have is to say we'll complain to the local press. No company wants a bad reputation.

There is also a small claims court. The cost of taking a claim to this court has gone up and its powers are limited - however the only time I tried it (I was mis-sold a computer by someone else who didn't know anything about computers either!), I got my money back.

Good luck!
Thank you for your suggestion .

The idea can't work in China . I think it is impossible to get money back , the only way is ---give up if they can't finish the website according to the contract .

Good day

Very frustrating. If you do get to a point where you can't make any more progress, make sure you remove access from your hosting account (assuming the web designer isn't doing the hosting for you!).

You may have to put this down to experience and move on for the sake of your business. There are a multitude of good designers out there, places like this forum and others are a good place to pick up recommendations, as good designers are always very concious of their reputation and customer satisfaction.

And this is why I still submit a draft to clients, so they can either hate it, change it or love it before any payment is made, I am that confident in what is required to do this, if they do not like anything I submit, then I am not the designer for them, simple.

I would move on ASAP, 40% loss is bad, but not as bad as 100% of the budget.

Find yourself a real designer and these issues can be just a learning curve. Most site owners go through this, pick yourself up and move on.

How did it go?

Have you had any luck? Are they will to finish the design?
