Arrow Please, need your thoughts about my website.

Hi everyone,
Never asked before, but thought with your opinion I can improve my website.

Specially look at page "About" I put a picture of me after reading some blogs about how brides appreciate pictures of business owners.

Thanks in advance. Link below.

Hi Edgar

It's a visually nice looking site, but its got some SEO issues.

Main thing is the lack of text links, so search engines will struggle to follow your site.

See for yourself how search engines view your site:
http://www.seo-browser.com/index.php...d&user_agent=2

Also the page names, about.html is ok, but next tab along "photo" is called page15.html which is a wasted keyword opportunity.

Your gallery photographs are great, really professional. I'd be making them more prominent than they are - put one or two examples on your home page to demonstrate immediately the quality of your skill.

The site could look more appealing and of a higher quality than it currently is, Your photos are great and the website needs to reflect the quality of your pics. ie would you put your brides photos in a £4.99 photo album from Wilkos?

I see your main website (home page) keywords are for video and not for photography. No mention og photography on your keywords on your primary page. Is video your primary service?

Thanks for your comments so far. At the moment my main service is video, but I added photograpy service this year and hope will do some nice weddings this year to build my portfolio.

Steve: Can you explain more about text links. Any examples?
Thanks

I thought the photos were great too.

How about linking the photos more closely with the different types of occasion though (eg formal wedding, top hat n tails; registry office 2nd wedding - older bride & groom; informal wedding for a very young pair, etc)? That might be a way of getting more of your keywords in.

I thought you needed to go through your text. Some of the wording sounded a little cold and insufficiently "you centred" to me.

In the bit "About me", would it be appropriate to share memories of some of the magical bits of your own wedding or family weddings? It might persuade potential customers to think "his / his family wedding was intensely important to him; he'll realise how important ours is to us"?

Sure, I made the same mistake, if you look at our menu bar (home | about us etc) along the top of any of our pages, (www.mylocalservices.co.uk) these were originally flash images, which looked pretty when you hovered over them, but the search engines couldn't read them. So we made them into text links, not quite as pretty, but now they are readable.

Apparently links at the top of the page carry more weight than the rest of the page, so the menu bar becomes hot property.

Gosh - everybody has been very kind to you..

Errr, well, yes erm.. all valid points so far. I'd suggest taking a look at some other websites in your profession.

For me, if I came across your website, I'd take one look at the website and move on. At the end of the day, you want some business from the website and in it's current format it does not work.

As others have mentioned, you've taken some great pictures, make these stand out from the start.

Remove the red "wallpaper" background.

Review the grammar/wordings - there seem to be some basic errors.

That'll be a starting point and much more to work on once those are resolved.

Glad that the music's gone.

There are some problems with grammar and wording. Particularly in the fourth paragraph on your homepage, it reads like an SEO list which is great for search engines but offputting for human beings!

Having your picture on the "About" page is good, it helps make it more personal. Speaking as a bride-to-be, I prefer to use vendors who allow me to deal on a personal level with a named contact.

However - grammatical issues aside - the accompanying text goes on to say "We work closely together with Wedding Photographers & Wedding Videographers across the country." This makes it sound like you're not actually the person who'll be turning up on the day? That perhaps you are just in an agency role, passing the work along to other photographers and videographers? But then your FAQ says that you do the work yourself. It's confusing.

Idly clicking through your site, I was astonished by your prices. If you can really do that work at that price, then shout it from the rooftops!

I also loved the "Weddings of 2010" video. I've seen too many schmaltzy pink twinkly romance videos, and that style and choice of music really stood out!

Methinks this guy is a hidden gem not making the most on his website, of what is clearly a talent.
