Alby, I hope you are a tough one, I am saying this to help, so please do not get upset, better we say it than people click and don't say it.

Bland: The name made me think of pazazz and the such, but the site has no imagery at all, the saying that a picture paints a thousand words is ever so true, I know because it is how I make my living, people spend pocket change or thousands on image, whether it is a logo, headers, product shots, but you really need some images, if you do not know what you need, try iStock, and search for words relating to your industry, smiling faces show viewers that your clients are happy with your work.

Content, Content, Content (Location, Location, Location!) is a huge one too, as someone that has had 3 quotes in the last few days for content writing for my latest (ongoing) project, I have been looking at this kind of thing in depth recently, imagine you are explaining what you do to an absolute fool, write it out, explain what you do, you are a writer! Write!

Centralised body text, no, no, no! Drop it Alby, go justified, the difference is easily noticed, easier for the eye to follow.

Font, good font, stick with it, easy on the eye, this is why all 'major' companies advertise with plain text in there body or main adverts, it works!

Seriously, I need what you are offering at the moment, and I may speak to you about it soon, but after your site is full of what you do, I need faith in your writing capabilities!

Keep me posted. Please remember, this is to help you out, not to neg you out.

Hi Alby

Good to see Kip sitting on the fence as usual

My first glance, and I must admit I thought what a bland site, no "perzaz"

It is very no thrills, just matter of fact and straight to the point, so I suppose it depends on how the site is working for you. If you are getting a great conversion rate, then maybe your core audience know exactly what they are looking for, and the no thrills approach works.

If your conversion rate isn't that great, then maybe a rethink of the site is in order.

I suspect you get a lot of repeat business, but I do wonder if you could convert the casual visitor, if your site was a bit more funky? Maybe team up with a designer if the visual design side isn't your cup of tea.

Quick look under the covers, although I'm no expert, but cant see any Meta Keywords or description, I don't know if this is deliberate?

On the plus side, as one of your customers, I can safely say I shall be using your services again in the New Year

Thanks kip, interesting comments, don't worry about offending, its not a problem, i welcome constructive criticism, its the best way to improve!

I will be the first to admit my strength is more in the written word than website design, as can be seen by the website.

Steve, thanks for the comments, hope your well. Nice forum, by the way

The website is really for the occasional visitor, to be honest, i get alot of repeat business, as Steve mentions quite rightly. It needs work, of that there is no doubt, i will take on board the comments and suggestions and have a look at it over the Xmas period, then post an update.

Thanks again

Hey, maybe go for a wordpress template. Lots out there to choose from and saves the headache of having to design anything.

Good cheat if you dont want to engage a designer.

There is always the option of a barter system Alby! Some people can write, some people can do imagery and impression! Wink, Wink, nudge, nudge. I know where Steve's sites are at, and if he is ging to use you again, thats good enough for me, so there is a blatant offer of some good 'skill swapping' here.

Kip: Steve, please do not move this to blatant plugs!
It is more of a forum helping offer!

Maybe we need a skills barter thread

Could be a great hook up, a copywriter and a designer!

I'm good at eating pies, not sure how thats going to help anyone, but worth a try...

Its OK Stavros, had a few busy days, back now, you need to think people and visitors as complete new comers, show them what they want to see, do not guess!
