It looks like you only have one customer testimonial?

There's an awful lot of "etc" on there. "Etc" should always have an Oxford comma, and really should be avoided if at all possible in any finished work.

I'll give you one free typo correction. In the paragraph:
Quote:
We have a team available to complete such tasks as data entry of surverys, data entry of e-books, data entry of questionnaires and data entry from a printed or handwritten source etc.
... it should be "survey", not "surverys". If you're selling services like data entry and proof-reading, then it's really not okay to have typos on your own website! On a cursory glance through I spotted one other glaring typo. It's on the online data entry page. See if your proof-reader can find it. If they can't, then on the bright side, you have something to put on your vacancies page!

It appears that your Virtual Assistant page can only be reached from the front page. That loses anyone who is looking through the services one by one using the links at the top.

Thank you. I will amend.

Obviously having spelling errors on my website is a big NO NO.

Steve, suggest you employ Mary to correct all the other errors too! ;-)

Must admit the site doesn't grab me. Why should I use you over anybody else? You need to give reasons why people should use your services?

It's surprising how many people who sell proofreading as a service actually have lots of grammatical and punctuation issues in their own work, let alone typos. They don't actually know these errors exist so they couldn't go and find them and correct them because how they write, including what punctuation they use, is what they already believe to be correct. And if the customer gave them the work because they are mostly none the wiser themselves to do it properly, then they can't spot the errors either.

Typos are often down to fatigue and carelessness as well as simply not knowing the correct spelling.

Agreed! Though if it's all based on tiredness then as I spend most of my times on forums at silly o'clock then it's a wonder anyone can understand a word I say!!

Thank you all for your opinions.

I too agree with what is said and I will be looking into it. I am not going to blame anyone as ultimately I shouldn't have allowed the website to go live with such errors.

Hi Steve

It's always a brave decision to publicly ask for feedback on your website, so I admire anyone ballsy enough to do it

But for my 5 pence worth, I'm afraid your site doesn't grab me. You've gone for the corporate look, but it seems a bit grey, and I find the text quite small and hard to read in that grey font.

Your obviously concentrating on the data entry market, and you know you're own market, but isn't this something the virtual office market has incorporated?

Would most small businesses be looking for the services of virtual assistants which can do data entry, general admin, support, assistance etc, or are they specifically looking for "data entry" when typing into google?

Like I say, I don't know your market, so if "data entry" is converting really well for you, and is a different sector to VA's, then fair play, I'll shut up If its not converting that well, then maybe include VA's etc in some of your SEO optimisation.

Indizine, you're spot-on - I've made some absolute clangers, especially on forum postings. But there's a leeway on forums that simply can't apply to marketing materials, and a simple spell-checker (built into the office software or as an add-on to a browser) will catch many common typos.

My current system is that unless a client has specified that turnaround is time-critical, I write the stuff on Day 1, and then I proof-read it on Day 2 once I've had a nice long gap including dinner, sleep, a shower, breakfast and a nice cup of tea.
Before proof-reading I select all text and change the font to something completely different, which makes it easier because I'm no longer recognising the shape of the paragraphs. Some people like to print off a copy and go to a different room, anything to make it feel like a fresh reading.
Then once I've gone through it a couple of times, I read it out loud, which makes me read more slowly and highlights any problems with flow.

But proof-reading by other people is a better bet. I sometimes end up doing it for people who are much better writers than me, simply for the sake of being a fresh pair of eyes.

Those of you that know me will probably guess what is coming . . .

In a word, Bland!

Huge gap at the top where a logo should be (for clicking back to the home page, people are used to this layout, do not make a website difficult for people to use)
No Favicon
Grey logo, I see those on faxes, nothing else.
Handbook sponsorship should open up their website in a new page (currently no link at all)
Copyright 2010 (just edit to 2011)
Not information rich (hardly any info on there)

Good use of "Call to Actions"
