Default New website - how do I promote it?

I sell Usborne Children's Books and have just purchased their templated website. They have strict copyright rules about setting up your own website and for just £45 a year i thought buying into theirs was reasonable.

I sell the books for charity so my commission goes to Book Aid International, when I sell at craft fairs I sometimes make a small profit which covers my expenses. Basically I commit to donate enough money to Book Aid International so that for every book I sell, they send a book overseas.

As this is a templated website there isn't a lot I can change, only the about me, about my team, special offers and events page... I can choose from options for the front page display but little else.

My local 'business' side of this is going well, I live in the Western Isles so have a captive audience, little competition...but to promote this throughout the UK I probably need the internet and not sure how I can do this effectively with little cost.

Also would appreciate comments on the website content (at least the bits I can change!)

Usborne Books: Home

thanks Janet

Hi Janet

Because this is so templates and all the other Usborne representatives will have 90% of the same content, any search engine optimisation is going to be hard as you can't give unique content especially to do with the products.

My suggestion to you is that you drum up interest via relevant forums and forums that are local to your surrounding area. when you are talking about a specific type of book, if possible, add a link to the specific page. So you you are talking about parent guides, link them to the page that has the parent guides on. not the homepage of the site.

You could also add the site into a few quality directories, FreeIndex for example.

hey Janet

I totally agree with MagnifyB here.
Personally the yellow background shocked me a little and I've allready been called bonkers, that's what you get for working at an Internet Specialists.
The Design isn't bad, it's compact, sleek and it's well functioning.
I hope all goes well for you.
It's a really good thing that you're doing too... for the charity of it.

little unsure why your logo is a hotair balloon though :O
