Hi Martina I assume you get this information from the hit count link on your website?

You should if you have not already install google analytics this really should be the starting point of understanding who visits your website and why - from this you will get a much better picture of what happens when people arrive at your site.

For example there it has a thing call bounce rate, which tells you if people are getting to your homepage and then simply leaving again.

There are other areas you need to work on and I am sure many here will help you do so, I suggest you set out your short and medium term goals here and we can help you towards potentially achieving them.

Hope that helps

Google Analytics will definetly tell you far more information and as Tomsk states what are your goals?

Just as an aside, the colours and fonts are not to my cup of tea, but that might just be me

I can't comment on all the webbie stuff, I'll leave that to the experts. From a personal point of view it is simple and does a job.

Not sure about the purple background mixed with the green, but again that is a personal thing and I think the name (logo) would be better if it stood out a little more.

Thank you all for your comments - really useful. I do have analytics and it seems like people have quite a long look - the bounce rate is very low. It's just that it doesn't translate into enquiries/sales. I've taken on board your comments about the look of the site, ie colours and toned it down a bit. If you get a chance, I'd be grateful if you'd have another look!

Many thanks again

Martina

The colouring isn't my cup of tea either - for example there's a lot of soft tones in your drawings which makes the extremely bright green "Pet Portraits by Portsmouth UK Artist" look very out-of-place.

Tell you what, though. I didn't spot a single abused apostrophe.
