Ahh I did have a slight feeling you would write them yourself. Well instead of doing blog comments that you are doing now! You should get in contact with the owner of the website and say that you have an article that you would think would suit their website well that if it can be posted on their website with your name as the author and a link back to your website.

^ This is how you should do seo, those blog commenting doesnt help much tbh, it doesnt carry much weight anymore.

Its called a guest post

Any advice on domain authority?

Having some mixed signals, and I know I need to increase the domain authority on MLS UK. This apparently will counter the affect of lots of low quality links, which we have accumulated over the years.

Have been told that a link from anywhere within a high domain authority site will pass positive authority, not just pages with high page authority.

Do you agree with this? Or do you need to be targeting high PA within high DA sites? Or do yuo have a different view on domain authority and the weight it carries within SEO?

Mmmhmmm interesting question.

Firstly a link from a high DA is great SEO wise, no matter what the PA is. Obviously a higher PA would weight a little more than one with none but to be honest I personally wouldn't worry about the PA if the DA is high.

Now domain authority isn't what I worry about first, because you gain DA as your domain ages as well as gain links and various other stuff. You can always beat your competitiion with more links + better links.

I don't view DA as a big factor unless its sites like amazon or wikipedia, those types of sites that your up against, then of course it carries a lot of weight.

The whole thing about DA is that if you have a high DA e.g. yell then when you create a page, it can rank in less competitive terms without any links, its ranking purely on DA.

So I can see why you would like to improve DA but just keep trying to get more and more links, and some really good links.

Try doing some guest posting, its harder to do but when you get a post on a highly relevant site with high DA then it is so worth it.

I personally love to mix my stuff up, get loads of low links with some nice high quality links. It helps hide them from my competitors

Thanks James

Its time for us to step up a gear in 2012 and aim for the next directory tier, but our competition are much bigger than we are, so we need to push up the DA. Shall be interesting to reminisce in 12 months and see if we cracked it, or if this post will haunt us

Good feedback about PA, must admit having been getting a little obsessed about that, even though other SEO's were telling me to chill

Good strat with the links, just need to get a few of those really good quality ones

It appears that my lasting power of attorey site is page 1 Google for the main search term. Going well so far.

That's cheating Bill, you can't count ranking for misspelling

"lasting power of attorey"

Congratulations

From a quick look, I am seeing that most of yours links are from forums, and forum sigs.

Try other types of links and see if you get a bigger jump

Thanks James

I have started to diversify now. So let's see what happens.
