Default Question for the boss man

Steve

The village market is mainly for members, but wondered what the rules are on offers that might benefit other members from other companies.

For example I am doing some seo work for a telecoms company and they are running an offer on "music on hold" for business, that's offering 10% of there product to forum members.

Can we publicise other peoples offers etc?

But then there is no incentive for them to join the forum as they are getting their business plugged for free without having to register and contribute, which IMO is what a forum is all about.

I would think that goes against fairness to other forum members too. They shouldn't get the benefit of the forum if they aren't even a member and can't post it themselves.

Just my opinion on the matter.

But I wouldn't complain if it was allowed because then I would also be able to plug my customers offers on their behalf, and they'd be really pleased about that. In fact, a lot of the members would start adding their customers offers and then it wuold be snided with all and sundry and lose it's value.

Yep see your point, however I was coming really along the lines of the benefit of forum users.

Like the example I have given in my post, I was thinking that members kind of bring a level of trust with the offer.

So if a company was for example offering x% of card processing fees then members here on the forum could potentially benefit as a result.

You, me and a few others would use it genuinely, unfortunately a lot more would abuse the system.

Interesting one, but then its heading to the realms of someting like barter card.

The village market is purely meant as an incentive to members who have contributed, and want to plug their products or services.

Many members have fingers in different pies, so no problems with promoting different services, but I do agree with Sandra, and think it would leave the system open to abuse.

I don't want to get too heavy on rules and regs, but its a balance of fairness between regular members like yourselves who contribute, and someone who gets their 10 posts and then starts spamming offers.

So sorry mate, but lets keep it to our own offers, but by all means encourage your telcomms man onboard
