Welcome to the Forums London.

Pretty controversial post for a new member. Why not take 5 mins and do an intro and tell us a little about yourself and your business.

Euro wise, I've always considered myself British and English, but never European

To me, a semi European Union as a trading partnership makes a lot of sense, and overall I think its good for this country, especially manufacturing. But single currency and financial control via European committee, not on your nelly!

I am a builder, there is not much to say about my business. Don't you think that EU wants to move on with or without UK ?

The EU is the EU, with or without the UK.

There's a lot of politics and sabre rattling on both sides. Talk of Britain standing alone again like 1940 doesn't really help, and European harmony is a farce, with individual Euro members breaking all their own financial rules.

I think the single currency was a mistake, and glad we never got embroiled in it, but it does makes trading with Europe hard work, and the reality is, it's a bigger market and of more benefit to us, than we are to the rest of Europe.

We need to be a key player with in the EU, but I think Cameron was right differentiate between Euro and financial decisions which affect Euro members, and decisions which affect EU members.

Will the EU lead to a superstate as some people want, I doubt it, or at least in my lifetime.

But as a trading partner, I think it's better to be in the club than outside on our jack jones.

I reckon that the EU will go for more integration and eventually will become United States of Europe.

With the amount of squabbling and cultural diversity, plus natural animosity (think Cyprus, Greece & Turkey), I reckon we're about 150 years away from that

Europe will be forged by fire, the quote belongs to a frenchman. They are using the economic crises as a pretext for more integration.
It is a bit sad that UK will become a less relevant country when that happens. The Argentinians want to take over the Falkland Islands again, they know that UK has no political support from Europe and US.

150 years ? I think more like 15

Turkey will never be accepted in the EU as a full member, if the EU means united in diversity , their culture and religion is way over too much for europe.

Yep !!!

We were called eurosceptics 10 years ago. We were not. We were simply realistic people who understand the diversity of human nature and the fact that an italian and a greek will always see the world differently to a german.
