Default Bl00dy poundland and Bodyshop - updated

I understand both of these companies have sent staff home for wearing poppies; or more to the point for refusing to remove them at the request of each respective company.

Have they NOT the foggiest idea WHY people wear a poppy????? If this is 100% true (which I believe it to be so) this is two stores I will never shop in again.

When will they wake up and actually take a sniff of the coffee?

Mike

Default Grrr

I too think this is disgusting of Poundland and Body Shop to ban the wearing of poppys. Instead of banning them they should be promoting them and selling the poppys in the front of their counter and helping to make money for the appeal.

The lack of respect that these people have for the people who died in the many conflicts our armed forces have served in really angers me

Exclamation Afraid it's not 100% accurate

Below are excerpts from hoax slayer:

"The message contains inaccurate and misleading information. The protest originated from an incident at a Northern Ireland Poundland store in which a staff member was asked to remove a poppy to comply with company policy. However, Poundland has since changed its policy to allow staff to wear poppies at their discretion. Moreover, the claim that BodyShop has banned the wearing of poppies is totally false."

"The Body Shop is NOT banning employees from wearing poppies. Nor has it ever done so. The Body Shop has publicly denied the claim, noting on its Facebook Page.."

"It seems that the false claim about The Body Shop is the result of mistaken identity. Back in November 2009, a chain with the similar sounding name "Bodycare" did ban its staff from wearing poppies. The policy caused considerable protest and discontent and Bodycare later revoked its ban and changed its policy to allow staff to wear poppies if they chose."

I'm sure elsewhere in the country organisations have ordered staff to remove their poppies.

Actions that leave me lost for words...
