Default Lessons in Anti-Marketing:

After speaking to various companies regarding trade prices and quality of stock/samples etc, whilst building the new project, I have managed to whittle marketing down to a few easy tips.

Do not send me a letter with samples in, clearly stating my name on both the envelope and the address on the letter, and then open the letter with Dear Wayne!

Also when calling me up a few days later (today) do not **** of the competition and then tell me you make the best because you made the first ones in the UK! Ford made the first car, enough said!

Do not tell me that no supplier will allow me to use images, when one supplier has bent over backwards to supply me with editable image files, plastered with my own logo!

Do not get sh**** with me when I tell you I cannot see us doing business, and tell me to call you if I ever want to get it right!

I am sure this form of marketing may work with some people, but never with me. We have already had our first order and the site is no-where near finished, our SEO is going nicely, and I like to think I can at least design a business card!

Epic, Epic Fail!

OK, rant over! (why has he not gone under, I thought the recession culled fools like this?) OK, rant over now! Honestly!

Yep, these people are still around! I had an email from a prospective agency last week stating they had spoken to me recently (actually, it was about 4 years ago when I was in another industry) and they addressed the email "Dear Richard". That's not my name.....

Needless to say, the devil is in the detail and if they can't get that right, game over...
