Should a service company like Professional Swimming Pools have a Facebook &Twitter account.

What are the advantages to us and how much extra work does it generate us in keeping them updated?

We would appreciate your thoughts.

I am not a fan of facebook never really took my interest ( I am a private person I guess)

Twitter for me is easier as I use it for my SEO work, but the first question I would ask is what is the average age of a person that is lucky enough to have a pool?

If the answer is they are typically the same age as twitter users and facebook users then yes go for it.

Other than having an experiment with some facebook advertising, I havent set up a business page. I suppose I should, but I never got round it, and there was always something more important to do. Apparently its low maintainace, and Stavros was telling me the other day the Facebook have changed the way business pages are indexed, so looks like I need to do a bit of reading up on it

Twitter is easy for somethink like this forum, and it does bring in traffic, plus tweets now do form part of Search Engine index's, so it may be worth doing occasional keyword relevant tweets.

I will have a look at it when we have some more time, after the new website goes live?

Hi! More and more businesses nowadays have been using social networking sites to promote their sites and business as well. Creating an account on facebook and twitter, I think, is an effective way in reaching out for your clients and even to more people. You can just write updates about your latest services, payments, amenities, etc. on these sites and can generate responses/comments from them just through the net. Keeping it updated is not that hard at all, you can have 2-3 people who can religiously follow up the accounts made and administer whatever the site and the clients need.

I've found Facebook easy to update and it does look good if you use lots of photos. Unless you pay for the advertising though, I get very few visitors to it. I would probably say Twitter seems to get a wider coverage.

I too have a Twitter account, and a facebook group, and a facebook page

If it takes you five minutes per day to update them (you can link them so you only have to update once), then just one sale would be more than worth it!

Give it a go and let me know... I'll follow you

Smile Facebook and Twitter

Hi...Though i am not a technical person but i can say that most people, when they are using internet 1st like to see the status of facebook and other social networking sites and on those sites they find a lots of things to discover like video, photos and other links which for them more interesting,so it may get easier for marketing because there can be more users online to visit the site and to know about your company. If i think in a different way if one likes your company's product and if would like to share with his/her friends it can be done easily from those sites.
