Well I use wordpress on a few blogs - and posts are indexed within a few minutes not 24 hours.

Its because wordpress has a ping service that calls google to come and index each page. The blogs are not particularly strong or good - see the one for example in my navigation from the link signature.

I think its pretty easy to add a ping service even if you don't have a blog - ask your webdesign.

I would say that getting content indexed quicker doesn't mean better rankings it just means the Search Engines are aware of the page sooner.

Submitting an xml sitemap to search engine directories can have your website indexed faster then having search engine spiders eventually finding your site

Go and submit the sitemap of your website to the search engine of Google in order to get it indexed by Google with in no time....

I think this is beyond your control. It is down to Google:
1. how frequently they crawl your site to detect any new content
2. how frequently they want to update your listing in their search results

Even if they scan your site every hour, they might only update your listing once a week.

Some of my pages get updated in Google just a few hours after they appear/updated while others take weeks.
