You may approach with that search engine for which you have optimized your site.

Google gets the majority of the search engine traffic so I would always suggest you start with them.

Yeah guys, I also know that Google is best among all, and surely, I'll go for that, but one thing that bothers me about it is its utilization of other's data, which it did in recent past.

Can you explain what you mean in a bit more detail. I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Well, I meant to say that Google seems no more reliable, the reason being, it has been using private data of the individuals, plus it usually comes up with deteriorating updates like what it did in the past, as it came up with mayday and Jagger, and to counter these updates, they later came up with Caffeine, which wasn't that much soothing. Isn't it?

I'm still not all that sure what it is you want to know. in you original post you said "Which Search Engine among Google, Ask, Bing, Altavista etc do you recommend me to check for my site ranking?"

If you are ranked number 2 in Google you are ranked number 2 in Google. If you are ranked number 2 in yahoo you are ranked number 2 in yahoo.

Obviously the data you get that says how many searches you get for each keyword each month may not be all that accurate if that is what you are worried about.
