Hi,

Please how effective is Google Adwords for a new website and what are the merits and dismerits of using it?

Its all down to the market you operate in, cost per conversion, budget etc.

My 5 pence worth, your reselling someone elses products, along with multitudes of other people, so you'll struggle to find competitive keywords that you can make a decent margin on.

Google "Aloe Supplements" and see what competition you have.

Or touchbase with MagnifyB and see if she can weave some PPC magic for you?

I took out a ppc campaign once, in London the plumbing industry is very competitive so the cost of keywords is expensive with some terms costing between £5 and £10 a pop! I personally couldn't justify paying Google & Co £2.5k a month just to have either competitors or job seekers clicking merrily away....

Thanks Steve

Aloe if you want to have a chat about PPC marketing I am happy to have a look for you.

However.......I would have concerns with the ROI you would achieve due to the way web visitors have to purchase (redirect to the supplier website rather than direct purchase). I know there is nothing you can do about this but I do feel you will lose some potential purchasers along the way. This will result in a higher cost to gain a sale and depending on your average basket value may not be the best option for you.

Just my 2p worth.

You can reduce the costs if you can get your quality score up and your keywords and adtext are closer related. £2.5k per month for a localised business is alot. ( if it brings you in £7k per month work then it can be justified)

It also doesn't sound like you were using the negative keywords to their full ability if you were getting job seekers clicking through.

Hi,

I am using word tracker and google analytics both for finalizing keywords of my site. and I must say I am satisfied with both them.

From my experience i would be careful doing it yourself as it can run away with you and you can spend a small fortune with very little return.

I guess a lot depends on where your market is, and what your competition is. for me London + plumbers + Google adwords don't go together unless you have an open ended cheque book. It's to highly competitive and because of that the prices per keyword go through the roof. However having a new site which had quite a few localized pages added has worked out far more profitable for me through organic searches than ppc ever did.
