Sounds like an attempted denial of service attact, a kiddie script running on infected zombie PC's with the intention to overload port 80 on your server.
But normally this is only targetted at something like a bluechip, so seems a bit odd. Is it still happening? Are the IPs all from the same range? If they are, can you or your ISP block the range?

Am hoping it has stopped. Had nothing Saturday and Sunday.
It peaked on Thursday with 200 visits and 100 on the days either side from the same location in Florida but no idea if it is the same IP ( need to check the logs) I will see what tomorrow brings before I delve. Me and the site are new boys so the site doesn't get masses of traffic at the mo - have absolutely no idea why they could have targeted my little site from the millions out there. |
