Default Google experiments with no organic results!

Found an interesting SEO blog about Google displaying a results page without any organic search results!!!

It actually led to a response from Googles PR machine that it was an experiment...

Worrying sign of things to come, or a slip up from big G?

See what you think

I can see the day when paid listing are "mixed" in more with organic listings rather than been separated down the right hand side.

why do I think this? Because users are getting wise to the sponsored ads on the right hand side and avoiding them.

Via my crystal ball ( ) I see the default of 10 listings on page 1 being changed to 20 consisting of 10 organic and 10 paid for listings. The volume of clicks on the paid adverts would increase and that will equate to one thing.......MORE REVENUE FOR GOOGLE!

There would still need to be a small identifier for sponsored listings so users can still avoid if they want to

Yep I think your right, I can see the coloumns merging into organic and paid, although a lot I suspect will depend on how far the mighty Bings marketing machines can go before it runs out of steam.

If they can get a serious peice of the Search market share, then google will have to slow down and relax some of its dodgier and heavy handed roll outs and ideas, for fear of alienating users and sending them elsewhere, which to date, was never really a viable option.

I welcome the day when we no longer have to sit tight and chew our nails because google is doing a major update to its indexing system, which could potentially affect 80% of our traffic

lol - I am convinced the mighty god that is Google, has secret cameras all over the place to simply entertain themselves with our looks of despair at the next rumoured or proposed changes!
