Huzzah, Forum moves to its own server

Decided to take the plunge, as I'm anal about website uptime, and nothing annoys me more than an outage! Also means the forum should be quicker and more responsive.

So after a few recent blips, I've decided to move the forum off its current shared hosting home, and move it to a dedicated server. Currently agreeing the migration plan, but hoping the move will be swift and painless.

Aiming to get the work done late evening or early hours GMT to keep any disruption down to a minimum.

Once I've got a move date and time I'll let you know.

I do like decent customer service!!

Right we are all set. The forum will go into maintenance mode at 22.00 GMT tonight and will then be migrated to its new home early hours.

By early tomorrow morning, we should be back, a bit quicker, and a lot more reliable

Well, migration seems to have worked, DNS is still populating around the world, but noticed a few users now on line.

Took the liberty of playing around with the sidebar, let me know what you think. Right off to do some bug fixing as I'm stuck in London tomorrow

After a hectic few days finally sat at pc, logged into forum to be told its offline

Glad to see all back and running again.

So glad I spotted this, I'd logged in and seen my avatar in the sidebar and sat here thinking "I'm sure that wasn't there yesterday..."

Is the move the reason why this morning I got a load of "linkback" emails?

Yup, looks like the migration spawned a load of previous link back requests. Seems to have been the only teething prob that I've seen.

Dunno what anyone else thinks, but the response times seem a lot quicker, but then my god awful BT broadband connection leaves a lot to be desired, so hard to tell from here

Initial web based monitoring tools seem to indicate its faster, so every cloud and all that...

No problems here - using chrome as normal and all looks ok
