Default Knowledge Base???

I know the forum is a massive help to users already but I have seen on some forums they have a small knowledge base, Somewhere you can only post and not reply it’s a simple storage place for good articles people have made for example

10 tips why not to use a link Farm

It could be somewhere people could come for information that is simply informative and not discussion

Just an idea

Its a very good idea mate. Must admit I've been thinking about it for a while, theres so much good contribution and titbits that then get lost as threads age.

Always a challenge for something like a forum.

Maybe its time for more stickies, with info taken from particular threads for common questions and issues, like the SEO101 thread, which seemed to go down well.

The only down side with stickies is that if you get too much good info the page becomes a right pain to find the actuall discussion.

By having a whole new section mods can move it into a category within the knowledge base.

Keeping the forum clean and the base full but full with relveant posts

Ill stop butting in now

No its a very good idea matey, see you had to have one sooner or later

I shall ponder and peruse... anyone else got any thoughts on a new knowledge base section. Maybe a one stop shop for the newly online and fledgling business?

There is loads of code out there for xml wiki and faqs, drop down jobby from main question (ie Best Directories, Best OnSite SEO etc), would keep people from having to trawl through the posts by the 50 a day posters lol.

I think it would be better to keep them with articles from the site and not big sites

Oh mrb, you have such a sense of humour

I'm thinking whenever there is a juicy thread that throws up some good titbits, that all this info is condensed and put into a new closed thread, so as headsocial says, we create a new forum with just reference threads in it.

Now if anyone is bored and wants something to do....
