Why are threads I've read, now showing as unread?

As the forum moved away from shared hosting and has its own server, this allows us to offer a bit more functionality.

One of the limiting things was the previous recording of "read posts" and threads. So last night a change was made to the database to allow much better recording of "read posts" and threads.

This means a new option appears if you select the New Posts option in the menu bar.

The new option is:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

So it means it's easier to keep track of previous threads you have posted in. You can also look in your User Control Panel (top left on the menu bar) which will display all unread posts that you have previously taken part in.

By default, any posts or threads over 30 days old will be assumed to be read.

Unfortunately, moving to this new system has reset your previous "read post" count, but hopefully the benefits out weigh a little short term pain
