Both are important to any online business as free marketing take time means seo need some time before keywords can come to top of organic list. where as paid marketing can bring keywords very quickly...

Odd question, so what other marketing types are there if you remove paid or free!?!

As it's been said many times before, paid (PPC) is for quick fix, testing the market or to gain exposure to keywords which are out of organic reach.

Free encompasses organic SEO, Social Networking etc.

I'm confused, are you talking about PPC for paid marketing, or buying links?
