Talking Yes you do bite!!!

I was in complete shock this morning to find that I was 'banned forever' from the new registration I completed yesterday for an honest misunderstanding of your terms!!! Yesterday I clicked on a link that invited me to join the new members forum...with bold text stating that we were invited to add web links in our signatures! I found out today that 10 posts are required before a person can do this - but I honestly didn't know this yesterday. I really wanted to be a part of the forum and now I am not allowed to under my name. If you really want to encourage new members to participate, please do not present MISLEADING invitations - it's really discouraging and disappointing for people who honestly want to participate! Post a warning at least before an unfriendly 'banned forever'! I have never encountered such a forum before....

Hi there Rabbit

I'm afraid we do tend to get a lot of single post link dumpers, or people who land, hard sell (aka spam) and move on.

So we've had to shore up the defences a bit and repel the borders to stop the influx of posters writing in the style of Yoda. (more viagra you must buy etc)

Occasionally someone gets caught up in a bit of freindly fire, so very humble apologies

I do send all new signups a welcome mail which mentions this, maybe it needs a rework..

"Thanks for registering at My Local Forums!

Feel free to pop into the introductions forum and say hello, and tell us a little about yourself.

As a new user, we have a requirement that you need 10 posts before you can add web links to your signature. This is a precaution to try and route out spammers...."

We're a nice bunch really, and you're more than welcome to participate, but apologies again

ps - if you want your username changing - let me know!

As Mary said? And to also add that I have participated on many-many forums over a ten year period and thus far found MLF to be outstanding. Give it a try, get ten posts in and then do your sig bits. Then carry on. You'll enjoy it.

Mike

I dunno either! In fact this is technically your fault

The other day you asked in a thread about the number of people we had to ban, and I said we were lucky, with realitively few. Then boom, we get a whole batch of little jedi warriers arriving.

Only normally ban if its blatant spam or full on in your face sales rubbish, so surprised I upset someone, but hey ho, I'm human Maybe I need to be more PC..

Group hug anyone?
