Default Ladies and gentlemen, good evening.

I'm Mary and I've recently set up as a Virtual Assistant.

I spent most of today with a very nice lady from our good friends at HMRC, trying to compress two of their one-day workshops (Becoming Self Employed and Self Assessment For The Self Employed) into a single home visit.

As a result, my brain is now squidging out of my ears and making a terrible mess on the carpet.

Registering at MLS was one of the lighter items on my to-do list and I thought it would make a good antidote to a day of tax returns. I've noticed that several of these introductory threads make reference to spelling and grammar and with that in mind, I'd like to offer you all the best guide to the apostrophe that I have ever seen. Any grammatical guide featuring velociraptors and jellybean hats has to be a good thing.

Hi Mary and Welcome

This was something I set up for my old company in teh Bristol area and is now generating in excess of 150k per annum for them (Bah Humbug, should have kept my trap shut) Thought it might delay the redundancy path they chose for me

Virtual offices with virtual assistants. Possibly differs to the content within your post.

Ah, I see.

No, I'm very much just me, and if I generated £150k then I dread to think what my hourly rate would have to be! I'm not the Virtual Assistant who dynamically and synergistically transforms your company with the very latest in TCP, MBA and PDQ multi-platform solutioneering. That's your job. I'm more the assistant who stuffs envelopes, does data entry, and would make the tea if there was an app for that.

Then clearly in this poster's opinion - you may well be missing out on an alternative vocational path. With a display of articulacy such as contained within your previous post, you would make a formidable opponent to anyone championing genuine eloquence.

With much respect.

I know of a lot of VA's that add to their income by selling websites, graphic design, print etc, and I do all three! I am sure I could work out a commission should you want to 'help' out your clients!

Welcome to MLF Mary!

Hi Kip

That's part of what I'm hoping to gain from here. I don't like to say "no" to people (stop sniggering at the back) but at the same time I know that if a client says to me "can you do this and this and this with my website?" I'm not realistically going to be able to learn php from the ground up before their due date.

I'd much prefer to say "well, I can't, but I know someone who can..."

Ah well sod that, even I refuse to learn php, the only reason being that the backends are so messy! Have had to rewrite a few clients that have had php previously, and not seen a tidy back end or coding set yet!
