Greetings from Bournemouth. Former IT guru (41 years), now a proofreader & general written English mentor, with a sideline in blues jamming (keyboards).(

Hi Dave in Dorset, this is Steve in Stratford

Welcome aboard our humble forum. Blimey, 41 years IT experience, thats punch cards to SAN's!! Blimey, I'm sure your expertise will be called upon from time to time

So proof reading and English mentor, does that extend to copywriting and proof reading web content, or is it more hard copy documents you are looking at?

Nice to have someone on-board from the South West. I'm in Zomerset. Methinks your proof reading could help tremendously, me inkluded

Hi Steve
Yes, it was a big chunk of my life. I remember using punch cards & even paper tape. Contrary to rumour, computers in those days weren't coal-fired. With regard to proofreding etc., I'll tackle anything, online or otherwise, that bears a resemblance to English. Student dissertations are becoming a speciality these days. Heavy work but much appreciated by the Bmth Uni community.

Thanks for the welcome. Never really regarded myself as a tech-head, more of a slap-head with a talent for programming, musical leanings, a love of chess, strong coffee and a nitpicker's gift for spotting bad spelling/grammar/punctuation. This forum does seem a good way of meeting people more interesting than me!

Thanks for getting in touch. Couldn't see anything wrong with your spolling.

What sort of problems does H&S have solutions for?

Hmm. Seems OK to me but my inner nitpicker spots the lack of apostrophes in "cant" and "its". On the plus side, anyone who regards bad spelling & grammar as a gift is surely the optimist's optimist, so congratulations on a positive disposition!

All the best & avoid Zugzwang.
