Default head protection for babies

Hi,
Just wanted to say thankyou for allowing me to be part of this forum.
I run an on-line business from home retailing a new and unique baby safety product.
I really love what I do and would not wish to go back to working for someone else.
One of the reasons for joining this forum is not only to make friends but also to get advise on marketing etc and I hope to make some contacts along the way

Look forward to swapping ideas and advise

Hi Sporty, welcome aboard

Congratulations on taking the leap to running your own business, like you say, I can't imagine having to work for someone else.

Hows it been going? Did the recession set you back at all, or have you just launched?

Default Head protection for babies

Thanks for the welcome.

I started about two and a half years ago - i was very busy last year with an initial interest from Mothercare - but they decided not to go ahead. Typical. Mind you I am kind of glad because their mark-up would have been to great for me to make any money.
Very quite this side of 2010 but have received some media coverage in the form of Midland Business which did a piece on me and Babynobumps.
I was also short-listed in the Midland Business Awards last year so that pleased me.
Get lots of hits on website but they are not converting into sales at the moment - I guess I will just have to become a better sales woman!!!
I have regular internet based customers and about 14 drop-ship customers and I am trying to break into the EU market - after all there will always be babies being born!!!

Congrats on the shortlist for the awards!

Wasn't your product used in an Alan Sugar apprentice task last year? Or am I thinking of something else? If I remember, it was a baby crash helmet/protector type thing.

If your getting lots of traffic, thats half the battle, just need to sit down and analyze your analytics and try and see where people go. Setting up goals and funnels in google analytics can help give you an idea of any poorly performing pages, or traffic bleed points in your site.

Getting fresh eyes to give you an honest opinion can help. When you've made 10 posts, your more than welcome to put your site up for review in our website feedback forum. Not for sensitive souls though
