Default Hi and hello

Just a quick hello and a liitle bit more to count towards my ten quality posts.

Just got into the carehome industry, didn't realise it was that difficult to fill up your beds, since we're all getting older each day as it comes.

Personalisation is the mantra and this govt. is trying to keep the old folks at home with a measly allowance rather than put them in a home. Sad to see this because hearing all the time that they simply cannot live on this and, with the colder weather round the corner, utility bills shooting up, inflationary rises on basic commodities and on and on........ they will simply give up!

Welcome aboard

Must admit, you always assume that's a boom industry and have often wondered if it something worth getting into!

Remember reading Ballantynes bio, when he got into care homes, and his aim was to create an environment he would be happy to have a family member living in.

I'll bet it's a minefield of redtape and legislation

Glad to have you with us, and be interesting to read your future posts. (unfortunately we don't count intro posts as part of your 10 posts, too many SEO monkeys kept doing 10 x hello posts in the introductions, but doesn't take long to get 10 posts throughout the forum )

Hi & welcome to MLF

After seeing my dear Gran fight for independence to live at home for as long as possible before the inevitable happened and the need for a care home became the best course of action - but i disagree with your comment stating the Govt are making it harder to move in to a home.

It was far cheaper for us to fund a carer to visit Gran at home that the £500+ per week we paid for her to live in the care home, but to be fair offered everything she needed and were very caring at the end of her life.

Thanks Chaps,

No doubt it is difficult for most businesses at the moment, but here, essentially you have the Local Authority and the NHS fighting it out as to who should pay, but at the end of the day, the red tape is crippling............ they don't know their right hand from their left.
I know from a few care operators who ran in the middle of the night to take in a resident from a hospital, but now with the tables turned, the hospitals don't even want to know you.
Sure is a tough world, but just got to battle it out.

Hi Garde
I am talking about people who have little choice but to move in a care home, not about fighting to live at home. The Govt. have now brought in the personalisation agenda where you manage your own monies, this simply is not enough to pay for care home fees (google Dilnot report).
Social care budgets have been cut throughout the Local Authorities in England.
On a more sincere note, you can't really compare a carer who comes in to do a few chores against the 24 hour care you get in a care home.

Hi Letoff

Welcome to the forum. I appreciate it must be tough work when you are a new business setting up and looking for what you need to do and how to fill your premises.
We as a company have a specialist scheme to cover the insurance side of care and domiciliary care and you may already have had contact from us already at Bluefin but would be more than happy to assist you should you not already have this set up.

I do happen to have someone that may be able to help you in trying to deal with the councils and nhs and possibly assist in what you need to portray to obtain more customs.
Here is a link to the company itself, the gentleman that I have a very good relationship with is Mr Steve Pitts, by all means I could get his info to you should you want any more information on ways in which he can help you.

Social Care projects ? project management - Agencia Consulting Ltd, Hessle, Near Hull, East Yorkshire, UK

DM your details if you want me to introduce you to him, if not I am sure there is a contact number on the website for you to use

Thanks
