Default New, but no longer shiny!

Thanks for the welcome Steve. Hello everyone!

I may be new here, but I'm too old to be shiny. After redundancy and being told I was 'overqualified' (that translates roughly as TOO OLD) for every design-related post that actually replied to my overtures, I decided to set up my own business and started making replacements for the old 3/4" pick-up braids that Scalextric no longer produced for their pre-1990 models and selling them on eBay.

I was soon encouraged by customers to start producing them for the newer cars and, when I asked 'why', the reply came back "'cos they're better"! How could I possibly be so churlish as not to respond positively? (I wasn't).

I now produce various niche components and import others for wholesale, wearing my 'Hi-Spec Products' hat and retail them by any means I can with the 'Classic Toys & Models' one on.

Every turn seems to find new friends; I'm enjoying this, but have yet to make my fortune. I'll have to close off now and get working - I've only 3 years 'til my pension starts!

My kind regards to you all,

Dave.

Fascinating intro Dave, and glad you found us!

It sounds like you found a winner, and I bet ebay is the ideal marketplace for this sort of thing.

Looking forward to reading your future posts.

Welcome to the community, Dave.

It sounds like you're having a really fun time with your venture. Sorry to hear about your redundancy, but it's great to hear how something positive came out of it all. Most innovative. I wish you continued success.
