Hiya and good luck! Hope the business does very well - there are lots us coach potatoes about needing your help!

Boring stuff .... you will be careful of your personal safety won't you? You'd probably best not discuss any precautions you do take in a public forum but plse may I offer some suggestions?

- I'd strongly suggest talking to the local police about safety precautions you should take as a lone worker travelling to any venues controlled by new (unknown) customers

- Always take the landline number of private and business customers ("just in case you need to alter arrangements"), check the phone number given in the phone directory and ring your client back some hours / days later; if you have any doubts about your customer change the arrangements so that you are safe

- Always keep a list at your office or home (where it can easily be seen by a trusted colleague, partner or friend) of whom you are going to see, when, where you are going and when you should be back; also strike through and initial completed appointments on your return.

Best wishes Linda

Default Thanks for the kind thoughts

Hi Linda,
I'm very aware of this issue - and luckily so if the Franchise I am working with. It is sad that we have to think this way but we must because everyone is not as nice as we'd like to think we are.

Risk assessments are one of my areas of interest, no really they are

Michelle

Sorry about the "mother-hen"-ning. It was prompted by memories of talking to some experienced local authority Careers Advisors who'd just started visiting clients in their own homes - they hadn't even thought about the safety issues involved (amazingly, neither had their employer).

Best wishes, Linda
