Cool Hello from the Western Isles!

Hi there, I'm a full time mum and have been selling Usborne books for 3 years now. I do it for charity and for every book I sell I give money to Book Aid International to send a book overseas. Looking to expand but not sure how to do that cost-effectively as I live in a remote area. I can expand by selling more or by recruiting other sellers but wouldn't want to recruit many people in my local area as catchment is small.

Any ideas welcome!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Janet

Welcome aboard Janet

I suppose online marketing would be a natural choice, website, SEO, maybe PPC?

Glad to have you with us, and theres plenty of advice floating around.

Now there you go with acronyms...I'm a complete novice at this and have no idea what you are suggesting, with the exception of 'website' - now that I understand!!

I have a website but not sure how to promote it. As an Usborne organiser I have to buy their templated website, which is fine, it saves me setting up my own, it's easy to maintain and looks great...but so does everyone else's! How do I promote my website (cheaply - I do this for charity) so that people on the other side of the country get to my page first?

Nice to be here, like this forum, think it might help me take what I do even more seriously...

Hi Janet and welcome on board!

I will try and break down Steve's lingo for you
SEO = search engine optimisation. Optimising your website means your website gets found by search users. So for example if someone types "Usborne books" into Google, sites that are optimised are the ones you are likely to see in the Google listing.

PPC= pay per click. It is a form of online marketing using the search engines and when some-one clicks on your website advertisement, you pay the search engine money.

When you get to 10 posts on here you will be able to post a link to your website. Simply post a thread and I am the other lovely people on this forum will try and give you some advice on the best way for you to go forward based on your website

Hi Janet

It is overwhelming, but the beauty of the forum is that all the useful posts, and most of the useful people, are still there as you work your way down the to-do list!
