Default Introducing myself

Hello everyone,

My name is Pam and I run an online family history shop called Parish Chest which was launched in December, 2002. I also own and administer the British Genealogy help and advice site which is completely free to use and has its own family history forum (also free). If you are interested in tracing your family history, pop over and see us.

Hi Pam, welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you've got some long online business experience! I hope you stay around so we can tap some of your knowledge!

Blimey, genealogy, I've got enough family skeletons that I know about, without you finding any more

Glad to have you onboard.

Hi Pamela

It sounds an intriguing line of business ... also, one that's on the up and up. And lucky you, living where you do.

Do you have a lot of commercially useful contact with media people looking for "human interest" features and comments? My type of business (career counselling and job search support) gets this kind of notice locally and nationally when there are news stories about unemployment, career changing, etc and it's always helpful. In the "silly season", it's possible to get a whole page spread on aspects of your business in a regional newspaper at no cost to you, apart from your time.

Obviously, you need to agree in advance with the journalist that your company details (website address, etc) will be mentioned in the article. Most are completely happy to agree this.

Best wishes

Linda

Hello Pamela, and welcome.

How on earth did you find yourself doing that?

Why did I start going genealogy? All male members of my paternal line dying on or before they reached their 44th birthday. I wanted to find out why.
