Well the latest update is that the ISP has spoken to its client, and long story short, has told the ISP to whistle. The ISP have comeback to me and said they need a court order to issue a take down request.

So it seems they are more of a community support officer than internet policeman, looks similar but completely toothless

Have spoken with a specialist digital copyright lawyer, who reckons we have a good case to answer, but its a court job with associated fee's.

His advice was to ask the ISP to voluntarily take down, but alas that's failed. So guess its down to the concious of ISP's, and looks like United Hosting is more interested in protecting a shared space Thailand based client, than making a stand for home based business, which obviously we would have raved about.

Ahh well, in the scheme of things, it's not worth worrying about, just an annoyance, and for any prospective customers, UK Free Directory really is absolutely nothing to do with us!

Shame nothing can be done but to be honest you could just make a big forum post and then comment on it allot?

If they dont have that much traffic etc your forum post could become top and thust makiing them look very bad.

Or start a 3rd party website with reviews etc? I have seen this done before and it worked a treat

Default Would you believe it...

Got an email today from the said directory in question:

"Now the logo has been changed I would very much appreciate it if you would remove the "we've been ripped off" posting on your forum"

So the ISP may have failed to do the right thing, but at least the directory in question has finally decided to replace their logo.

As a result, I have agreed to edit (although not take down) this thread removing references to the accused directory, as this still makes for an informative thread, and I suspect also shows how a bit of negative publicity can sway someone's decision to do the right thing!

Had a call from Viking Directs MD office today, and they are sending out the rest of the stuff I wanted (and ordered) and their cost, all thanks to a blog I put up. It pays to go public, the power of social media huh Steve!

This is good stuff, I have always thought that with the very growing power of social media things like this will happen allot more and people will have to change the way they work to ensure they do not get bad publicity

If you keep to the facts Twitter is good to air your complaint, companies are monitoring tweets with their company name in. I had an issue with BT and within 24 hours I had a tweet from @BTCare and they picked up the issue and it was all resolved promptly.
