Have used both Bing and Google, Bing have very high privacy standards, so do not take all the ads you want to place. Have always been happy with Google and get a good return on our investment to date.

One contract has sent thousands with us from one small ad, but you need to practice and learn from the keywords and what you have to spend, learnt most of my knowledge with google by their free offers.

About to have a go at PPC again, but for us, keywords like IT Support London costs around £14 per click. That's a lot of money.

Used it for years, and have consiently good success with it, but have just recently been challenged by an adwords outsourcer that they can tweak our campaign further, absorb the management fee into our normal spend, and give us a better ROI.

Was very cynical, as we get approached all the time, but eventually agreed, and to be fair, they are currently delivering.

They have reduced our actual clicks, making them more targetted, and we are holding at just over 40% for conversion rate, which I can't complain at.

Company is broadplace.com, we've been using them now for nearly 3 months, so still early days, but so far so good.
Steve, how does this company charge - charging structure?

Ryan

Its the usual problem with keywords, need to look at quality words and not volume, had similar problem with swimming pool companies, but how use words that reflect what problems a customer may have, got better result and lower PPC.

Some people go for swimming pool companies as a keyword in our industry, but lots of people also have problems and use keywords such as swimming pool care? Swimming pool companies can cost £4.00 ppc at various times of the day, but swimming pool care gets an average of £0.53 ppc.

You need to look at problems that you cover that other competitors do not and use these keywords. Basic marketing, using your USP? Google systems are good at advising the keywords per month for each subject?

Play with the system and initial set yourself a low expenditure, our maximum is £5.00 per day, but normally spend an average of £2.67 per day and get a lot of good leads.

Well this is a good question and has me stumped. They charge a set maintance fee, with a sliding scale per budget. Upto £1k per month, they charge £75 per month.

For that, they tweak and monotor the campaigns weekly. I have no doubt the report they generate is automated, and the guy doing most of the work behind the scenes will be 14 and earning tuppence hapenny, but I'm montitoring what they are doing, and it works.

The changes they have put in place are working, and they make changes every week. They stipulated a minimum of a 90 day agreement, so they have a fighting chance to get to know your account and make changes, but I countered this with an immediate break if my conversion dipped.

I'm still cynical, but they do appear to be doing a good job, and as much as my pride permits, they are doing a better job than I was, although we still had a healthy conversion rate

But for what they charge, and the amount of my time thats freed up, it seems a no brainer, although I do still closely watch the account

How they make their money though, I dunno, guess it has to be volume.

Thanks Steve.

Do they just manage your Google PPC account, or will they do it all (Yahoo/Bing).

I'm using them just for Google, but they will do it all apparently.

But like I say, we are only a few months in, so still early days

Have the usual free Adwords offer from Google. Is it possible to limit in advance a PPC effort that only uses the "free money", plse? At this stage, I think PPC would be near-useless for me (as lots of people want career counselling and help with CVs, training in interview techniques etc but very few realise what it costs to provide worthwhile help) - but I could be wrong!!!
Best wishes Linda
