Question Yell PPC - any good??

So Yell gets a bit of a bashing, and it's pretty unaminous that the hard copy directory advertising is declining (if you have a few older ones, compare the page numbers!)

Their online directory is expensive, but it does get results for some people, so if it works, then fair play.

But what about Yells PPC? Anyone had any experience with this? Good or bad?

I looked at sometime ago and thought it was price then - it's a little like PPC with yahoo and bing does it actually bring you any traffic?

What's the PPC price for a term that you are looking at Steve?

In adwords, we never go over 30p, but most of our terms come in around the 15p - 25p mark which is currently giving us around 35 - 40% conversion rate.

I don't see Yell as a contender for adwords, but having not used them, I'm curious to how anyone else found them, and do they give a decent ROI?

That's a damm good conversion rate - depending on what you define as a goal of course. But still......excellent!

Well done

Cheers, goals to us are sign ups, but its taken a few years of playing and permanent tweaking! I love adwords, it just works. Have tried different alternatives, yahoo, MS, even facebook, but nothing.

Just curious over Yells offering, but I suspect it won't be a patch on the mighty G.

No I've never used Yell - never had the need to as it's not fitted in with previous work.

The best sign-up conversion I have had was around 26% but they were sign ups to data marketing sites so was still quite pleased with that!

Yep Google rocks but it's getting expensive for keywords/phrases in certain areas - looked for one potential client the other day and it was £99 per click!

Blimey!!! Can you say what the keyword was or related industry? I know they are really tight now on matching keywords to content.

I thought some advertising keywords were expensive at around £2 - £3!!!
