Default UK shoppers prefer to buy online

Interesting story from the Beeb.

"UK shoppers are embracing technology, and at a faster pace than many other countries, a survey of global shopping habits by KPMG has suggested.

Seventy-seven per cent of British shoppers prefer to buy goods like CDs, DVDs, books and video games online - compared with 65% globally."
BBC News - UK shopping habits transformed by technology, KPMG says

Great news for online retailers, not so good for the UK High Street.

Interesting stat Steve...

I'm definitely one for online shopping as not keen in trudging around the shops. However, still can't imagine buying clothes online - need to see, touch and try it all on.

Think the UK is advanced in terms of technology and early adopters - personally think there is lots of opportunity to see work works well in this country and then implement it in others that are will catch up one day, e.g. France...

I suppose all the Offshore outfits in the Channel Islands are whats driving it, as they don't have to charge VAT for importing to the UK, or maybe that loopholes been plugged?

I must admit, I prefer to shop for almost everything online nowadays, even more so this time of the year. If you stroll around my local supermarket by the time you have come out, at least 10 people would have walked straight into you and offered you a worthless apology. The you get to the till and an item is either broken or doesn't have a price tag, so you have to wait for a supervisor, then finally you have navigate you motor out of the car park without some bright spark ramming a shopping trolley into it....Alternative 15 minutes online...job done easy!

It is the ease or convenience to buy online so UK shoppers are attracted towards it. In this fast moving age when people have no time to purchase by visiting the shopping malls, online buying is a great innovation for them. It is a good example of creativity to promote your business.
