From the BBC:
Virgin Money has said it now has a means of developing a UK retail banking business after buying regional bank Church House Trust. Virgin will pay £12.3m for the bank and invest £37.3m into the business. Under the Virgin Money brand the company will use the bank to offer savings and mortgages products. "The Church House Trust business offers us a strong platform for growth," said Virgin group founder Sir Richard Branson. Full Article: BBC News - Virgin Money deal paves way for developing UK bank How satisfying for Branson if he pulls it off, after his early experiences with Bankers when they tried pulling in all his loans years ago. No idea why the Govt wouldn't sell him Northern Rock.

Interesting take, customer service, and rightly so has always been one of his main drivers in the past. Is this a case of an organisation now becoming too large and faceless?
You could argue Microsoft went the same way, and Google could be in danger of going a similar way?
