Well it seems like they're expanding (FT.com)...500 residents in the east London borough of Hackney, have voted unanimously for The People’s Supermarket to open a shop there, its second, and its founder has hopes for Newcastle upon Tyne, Cardiff and Truro.

So for now, the model is working - though it seems to be on a wobbly basis of raising money by selling bricks!
