Wink Why did you start your business?

If you're running a business, especially in these dark economic times you may be working all hours, absorbing all the pressure and stress, and when you get that moaning client on the phone, you may wonder if its worth it!

So can you remember why you started your business? Do those reasons still ring true, or do you secretly dream of being an employee

Freedom, control and making money!

Anyone hankering after being an employee isnt cut out for business. Period.

You have to be of a certain mindset. Be realistic - be concious of failure, most new businesses will die within 3 years. Harsh but true.

and yeah, I still love being in control

Thankyou, guess I should have done an introduction.

I deal in investments, won't go into too much detail, but lets just say I'm a business junkie

Money, freedom and most of all to prove people wrong.
It is easy enough to sit in a company as an employee telling anyone who will listen how you would run the company but it is a different story when you are the man in the hot seat.
I also want to tackle a different kind of stress. The type of stress you have generated yourself because it is your business and not because some muppet who is clueless wants to implement something he knows nothing about and wont work on the first place.

So most of all I want to run my business my way

I like you guys raising posts that I can have a good rant about now and again it ease the tension lol

I'm with you on that one.

Financial reasons are obviously important, but the freedom to be in charge of your own destiny, say "the buck stops here" and deal with the consequances is great.

I can't imagine going back to being an employee now, I would be un-manageable!

I suppose the key one for me is stratedgy, being the one that decides the direction of the company, working through the business model and seeing it work is like a drug

I had a 2 major contracts for setting up call centres, training, employing, etc, and use the money to bugger about in SE Asia for 18 months, after meeting nothing but head honcho's, CEO's, etc etc, I decided I was not one to sew buttons on shirts anymore, like a conversation with a fellow forum member the other day (Hadn't thought of this myself to he put t this way, but its how I felt) I have always been good at effiency and improvement, why do it from within, when I can do it for myself.

Design I have done for years and years, so I decided to take it seriously, and all is good so far, month on month I am getting more and more work.

But the real nitty gritty is, I wanted to work twice as many hours for half the money!
But sell it to buy the house on the beach with the wife and maybe a small dog!

If your buying the house in the Philippines, Yes! But as I already have the best there is, I shall not be needing a mail order!
