Cool The Facebook for Business Thread!

OK, I confess, I do wonder round the halls of Facebook from time to time, just keeping tabs on the people I couldn't be bothered to keep tabs on in the real world

But I've finally been convinced to try it out as a Business Platform. So new profile, created a fan page (rem fan pages get indexed, group pages dont!!)

So with a grand total of 2 contacts, 1 of them being the other me, anyone else using facebook for Business? If so, why not add your link below or give me a click

I'll go first:

Hey Steve,

I keep hearing from people I "should" be getting the busines on facebook, + every other social networking site around?

Problem is even though I've been on FB for about 4 years and have "apparently" loads of friends. The whole thing has gotten old and more than a bit boring for me!

SEO and business benefit aside, give me a forum like this anyday where intelligent people converse with witt and intelligence without feeling the need to "poke" someone (still dont know what that is).

With facebook, I cant help feeling a little "processed"? Like I must conform to be normal but maybe thats mjust me?

I'd love to understand more about how to use FB for business where it will make a difference. I might find some enthusiasm for it again then.

Phil

Great feedback Phil

We did have a foray into facebook advertising, but although plenty of clicks, we gained little business from it.

Facebook seems to be stepping up its profile at the moment as a business platform, apparently they've worked out the average user is now middleaged and not spotty or pimply, and with recent ties in with Bing, they are looking to tap even more into the biz advertising market.

I don't intend to devote my life to my fan page, but its there. Saw an interesting blog this morning about dofollow links from facebook, so if nothing else, its worth a weblink.

But your right, like you I'm a forum junkie, and can do with out farmville crap and poking nonsense. Give me banter and business any day.

Hey I have just started a business page. Are you finding that it works to get to new clients?

Those that have, did you start a business page from your exciting personal account or start a totally new one just for business?

Definitely go for a new one, I always think it's wise to separate personal and business, before your customers start seeing drunken pictures your mates uploaded from that party 10 years ago! Or is that just me

We're properly stuck with facebook, our account was made by an employee whom no longer works here and the login/password were lost for good so our page remains blank and there's no way to take it down or make a new one.

The same problems everywhere. The fact is that social media is a young channel. So the most we do there is more like experiment. So a lot of cheat

Social media sites have worked in some people if you are able to create the best page and been able to link to individuals that might be interested with the product or services you are offering..
