Default How important is Web Design?

I have been asked this allot recently with more people looking to save money people are looking for cheaper ways to have a website to make sales online, the leading question I always get asked is how important is web design so I am going to explain if I can a little better why I think web design is so important.

Firstly my opinion is that web design is very important not just because I run a web design agency and need the business but from a company’s point of view I think web design is key to making sales online.

Would you buy a car from a badly kept garage? No so why would you buy things online from a badly designed shop? Well the answer is you wouldn’t.

Having a good website is only half the battle but as most people know the key to any business is sales and without sales your business will fail but how can you aspect to make sales online with a bad website you can’t.

While allot of people might think they need to hire a web designer who knows everything this isn’t the case find a good web design company who know design and have other people who can handle all the other aspects and your onto a winner a good designer should be that a good designer.

So when you next think about your business and how you might be losing sales think about the website as your shop does it look inviting?

Sorry for the post just wanted to voice my view

Well a good design is very important - particularly now that Google is taking things like user engagement and bounce rates into account.

A nice design conveys trust and will lead to better sales conversions.

Conversely a poor or inferior design will push up the bounce rates and discourage trust leading to lower sales.

Also in the mix is the domain name - its key to start with a good domain then add a great design - sort out the useability - then build the backlinks.

That's my thoughts for a winning approach.

I feel design is a critical point in a site. If it's not designed properly, you're going to lose out and people are not going to do business with you. In some ways, I feel that a site design is like graphic communication. It "speaks" to the visitors to the site. If the design is shoddy, it says bad things about your company, if its overdone, it goes the same way. It's even more important for graphic designers I think. I have seen many designs that take your breath away, but then you try navigate the site and it becomes an epic fail, so to speak.

Designing a site means not only taking what your client wants into consideration, its about usability, the visual feel of the site, i.e, is it a relaxed site with peaceful colors and flowing designs, or is it a vibrant site that has many contrasting colors, bright or neon colors etc.

Depending on your needs, a site needs to be designed accordingly. I would never really use a template either. I would rather spend a few hours on Photoshop, designing it myself right down to the last divider, but many I know cannot do that, so I would advise them to make sure that the designer they choose has the experience and talent to make outstanding sites. Being a (hobby) designer and digital artist, it makes it really easy for me to design something like a site, but even when I visit another designer's site, the first thing i do is check out their portfolios so I can get a "feel" for their work.

i totally agree with what you guys said. It is true that a accordingly designed website plays a very important role in on line business. It depends on what kind of products you are dealing with. The product picture should be real. Dont let people think that you just have the picture done by photoshop. That means the picture has been artificially designed and altered. So they may doubt it. People tend to trust your authenticity and professionalism. Your business is a half successful one if people know what you sell and your products' characteristics when they just click it. Dont make it too true to make customers believe! It is gonna disappoint you! this is just my point of view.tks have a good weekend!

To go back to your question - how important is Web Design? If you want to increase your sales and have an online presence then yes of course, it's important.

However, one lesson I've learnt is that some people are happy without one and don't wish to increase their own workloads because they have more than enough work for themselves and have no desire to expand. Seems madness to me but everyone is different so focus on those that do want to expand.

I am not a web designer, but imo web design is very important. With more and more people searching online for businesses and services. Your web page is effectively your shop window and will be what generates a first impression for your potential clients. It needs to be designed to hold peoples attention long enough for them to make an informed decision about you/your service.

Life isn't just about working or earning as much as you can. If people can make enough of a living without the need to expand or market then fair play to them.

Default Website Design is most important

This is the starting point of an online business to make an attractive website and to provide good information on that.
To get success of an online business depends on how attractive a website is in look wise and what information it is providing.

Design is everything. That's why companies spend hundreds of thousands on branding and Google spend hundreds of hours doing A/B tests on different buttons on their sites to see what gives the best results. If it's well designed then it's easy to use, easy to read and easy to buy.
