I installed 2 x 1GB ram to my laptop last weekend, to replace the 2 x 512MB that were the originals. Since then, Firefox has repeatedly crashed. The only difference is the speed, the 1GB cards are 667 MHz whereas the 512MB cards were 533MHz. I thought they new cards would just slow to 533.
I have upgraded to FF5 and got same problems (but I miss the Google Toolbar anyway) so I uninstalled and removed all traces of FF and re-installed FF4. Made no difference. After a few hours it started crashing again, and crashes a few times an hour if i'm using the browser, it's that bad. Any suggestions? I'm gonna put the old cards back in for now.

Is there a similar bit of software to test compatiblity of added hard drive plse?
I've a PC that was "upgraded" by a friend (he added lots of pre-owned chips along with a new tower that only has 2 sides instead of the more conventional 4). I think the missing 2 sides and dust make the PC somewhat temperamental (I should do more vaccuuming!) but it would be interesting to know whether there's summat wrong with the thing's innards as well. I only use the PC to drive the printer so this question's prompted by curiosity rather than anything else. |

The ram I had put in was not compatible it seems. Put the other cards back in and it was fine.
