I have several generic term domains via sedo that I wish to sell privately and I wondered if it was OK to approach companies via search engines based on the key word results or generic term. For example, I have a generic term domain which relates to large button mobile phones. Would I be OK to approach companies selling these to see if they wanted to make an offer for the domain via sedo?
I am new to domain selling and wondered if this sort of touting was acceptable? Just looking for some friendly advice ![]() Thanks, Simon

Can't see any reason why not, assume you mean you'll email the likes of vodaphone etc via their info email or any contact mail you can find.
Suspect they get loads of these types of requests, but as long as you don't bombard and spam them, should be ok? Must admit though, I'd be surprised if you get any response, if you haven't had luck through the likes of SEDO? Good luck

Yep, exactly that. Worth a try and you never know, it could just be what someone is looking for at that time so can't harm asking.

I have some domains that I shall be trying to off load, this is the second time I have tried Sedo and their website is appalling, I have not got a clue how it works and I spend a lot of time looking at websites for SEO etc.
This in my opinion is how not to make a website!

So how do you know if you have a 'great' name

easy one, if you have a great name, you will have a flurry of offers. If you get none, its not as great as you thought
![]() Plus don't forget, if you really have a killer name, you will be approached regardless as long as your details are correct in the whois records
