Our software, like any other tool, is intended to be used in a responsible manner for legitimate purposes only. From a privacy perspective, changing your IP address to avoid tracking is not much different than changing your phone number to avoid telemarketing or stalking. There is nothing wrong with trying to keep your IP address private for the right reasons.
HOWEVER, use of our software for illegal activities will not protect you. Law enforcement and courts can use legal processes to obtain your true information. So if you have any fraudulent or criminal intent, you're in the wrong place.

What do you think people would legitimately want this for?

But maybe it does have a use, if you can choose to get an IP in the states for example, or any particular country, then this could maybe be useful for SEO purposes.

Even if you use the google.com/ncr switch which is supposed to force you to the US search results, it brings up UK results, which I assume they are doing IP translation.

So for our US site, it would be handy if I could surf as a US user with a US ip, to see how we are really performing in keyword research.

Some people go to considerable effort to mask their IP addresses simply because they sometimes feel paranoid that anyone from the CIA to the next door's cat might be spying on them. Using stuff like this makes them feel a bit better - not safe, but safer.

I can also name any number of allegedly sane people who are convinced that if you don't mask everything you can while using the Big Bad Internet, evil mass-murdering paedophile zombies break into your house and feast on your intestines, or something.
