I'm very happy with Barclays, have 2 businesses with them and they have been great.

Well I know a lot of people have been unhappy with Santander and when they first took over Abbey they were a pain.

However they improved greatly and from a personal perspective we haven't had any problems for quite some time and the internet banking system they have is fine.

Good luck.

I bank with the Bank of Scotland, by and large it is free banking unless your account goes below £5k then there is a £15 monthly fee. As I only except either BACS or debit / credit card payments no other charges are applicable. The downside is that there are few branches, and you have a so called virtual bank manager, the only time I've ever heard from them in the last 10 years was when I won a £50k job and the money was paid upfront which sent alarm bells ringing.

Went went with Barclays. x2 accounts.
They lost a form for one account and filled in the form wrong for the other account...delaying the opening of both accounts by 2 weeks.

Other than that, since the accounts have actually been open I am very pleased so far.

Fingers crossed teething problems were just bad luck.

Default Lloyds TSB

Hi, I haven't experienced any problems with Lloyds TSB over the last 5 years, the online banking is easy enough to use and if you opt for the electronic business tariff as long as you pay people by BACS/ Direct Debit etc this reduces your charges greatly as these are free of charge.

I think the best banks are those that don't go bust and don't charge you to give them your money
