Yep deffo, get your accounts sorted asap. If you can do all your book keeping yourself, using a web package, then that will keep your costs down, but better to engage an accountant now and agree a fee, than leave it till your year end.

Yes definitely phone around several accountants local to you to get a best price. If you take on a bookkeeper you can ask them how much of a difference it will make to the fee. Also, some accountants can recommend a bookkeeper who they work with, so know how they operate.

If not hiring a bookkeeper, then speak to an accountant and they can advise you on what records you need to keep. Best to start on the right tracks, otherwise it can get expensive at the end.

Good luck.

Well Victor I would say you must recruit a right person as you have installed your business. I feel an experienced resource can manage your accounts as well as bookkeeping. So, initially you may go for the skills in a person that can manage both of the responsibilities and then charges can be negotiated accordingly.

Regards,

Well if you have just started in business, unless you have a steady flow of work coming in, I'd be inclined to wait a while and get some money behind you before you start employing accountants. But if your t/o is high then go and get one.

Hi Victor

Two or three months ago I guess!

The "I wish I had spoken to you earlier" scenario is far too common.

Working with professional advisers from the outset is strongly recommended.

There appears to be an unhealthy fixation on costs and pricing. The reality is that all you might need in the early period of a new business is a few telephone calls and confirmation that you are on the right track. On the other hand it is very easy to go off track and some of those telephone calls could pay for themselves several times over.

If you would like guidance on how to select an accountant to work with then post again or email direct.

want to recommend you a good advisor. I took a chance and ordered the company credit report at Check That Company only for £1.99. It was very detailed and neat. When I picked up the report they gave me the number of support service. And now if I don't understand something, I can call them at any time and ask the questions. I hope it will be usefull for you. Keep information about company credit report in mind. I am sure it will help you one day.
Good Luck!
