Question Blair in the spotlight - fair enquiry or a witch hunt?

So today is the day, Mr Blair faces the Iraq War Enquiry.

Time will tell how he performs, but what is the actual aim of the enquiry, or what does it hope to acheive?

My understanding is no one will face any criminal proceedings, stuff thats come to light already shows that Govt lawyers thought the justification for war was illegal.

So whats the point? Are any real lessons going to learned? I doubt it. It seems to be a media circus and witch hunt conducted at the tax payers expense.

Personally, although not a Labour fan, I think we were right to remove Saddam, but the justification using weapons of mass destruction was a bit thin, and blagging it has caused untold damage. Surely human rights issues alone could have provided just cause, and years earlier!
